An application available today needs a recovery path for tomorrow. Data, files and integrations have different roles. Before placing a website or automation in production, set what should be preserved and how to check a restoration.

List the necessary components for recovery

Uploads, code, database, and settings may need different copies. A database-only backup does not recompose files sent by customers. A copy only of the files does not recover requests or records that are in the database.

In WordPane, backups are not included: the client configures the routines in own storage. Panel tools help operate these routines according to the configuration available. Define destination, frequency, retention, and responsibility for the conference.

Test restore

Choose a recent copy, restore to a test environment and check the important streams. Check if the application starts, accesses data and finds uploads. Register the time you need: this result helps plan a real recovery.

Also decide how much data can be lost between two copies. An occasional form and a store with constant orders may require different frequencies. Schedule only has value if executions and results are followed.

Automation and AI require revision of accesses

An integration may be allowed to read messages, record records, or perform actions. Limit each credential to what is needed and keep secrets outside public repositories and forms. Review what is sent to external providers.

When copying production for testing, disable destinations that could trigger actual emails, charges, or updates. A restored automation can repeat events if there is no duplicity control.

Include budget operation

  • Book resources and costs for the backup storage.
  • Define who receives and accompanies execution failures.
  • Check permissions and remove accesses that have lost their purpose.
  • Keep credits and hiring under follow-up: suspension and removal follow the conditions of the service.
